Neapolitan Milk Stout Packaging
The Neapolitan Milk Stout was a great seasonal beer with a small cult following, but Saugatuck Brewing Co. wanted more from their one-of-a-kind beer.
“We needed packaging as creative as the beer,” said Megan Pruim, Saugatuck’s Marketing Coordinator.
The new packaging has made Neapolitan Milk Stout a smash hit; orders increased from 1,500 cases to over 15,000 the year after the release. Now, that’s results.
“The rebranding of Neapolitan Milk Stout stands out as having the biggest impact in terms of sales,” president and owner Kerry O’Donohue said. “Neapolitan case sales increased 251% from 2013 to 2014, then 47% the next year. And more recently, Barrel Aged Neapolitan has been a tremendous hit as well.”
Backyard Session IPA -2015 Gold ADDY Award Winner
Saugatuck Brewing Co. new session IPA (that means you won’t get drunk on it so fast) needed a brand, a label, a carrier, and promotional material. Their goal was to create a brand that was comfortable, adventurous, relaxing, and all around fun. It started with the idea “Make the world your backyard,” and it became Backyard IPA.
Using custom-illustrated graphics, the carrier displays various outdoor activities and scenes that create a relatability around the brand. Everything from mowing the lawn and grilling to a lawn dart in the foot is showcased on the carrier.
Starburst Wheat Packaging
Starburst Wheat is the newest mainstay beer from Saugatuck Brewing Co. They had an idea of what they wanted to accomplish with their new brand, but they needed Revel to bring it to life. The goal was to create eclectic packaging that would be geared toward a younger audience, while still being accessible to the masses.
After going through our process – whiteboarding sessions with the client, brainstorms, research, multiple design concepts, and, copywriting – Starburst Wheat’s new brand was revealed with rave reviews.
“For me, the redesign has created a brand presence that we have never had before. When you look at all of our mainstay styles on a shelf now, you know they all belong together,” Pruim said. “There is cohesion and continuity and that is very important for a growing brewery. Having all of our styles match and stand out on the shelves together encourages people to try our other styles that maybe they haven’t had before.”
Starburst Wheat Promotional Posters
To promote their newest beer, Saugatuck Brewing Co. needed some posters created around this new beer brand. They turned to Revel to bring the carrier design to life. This off-center design features a single element from the carrier and witty headlines, coupled with old time photography.
Back Yard Session IPA Posters
The Backyard IPA posters were all about showing off the illustrations on the carrier on a larger scale. Certain posters single in on just one scene with others pull in various illustrations.
